there are alot of factors that can change the price of a turbo..depending on the specs, they can for 500 or 1000, it really depends.

100 is cheap, are you sure it holds boost? or are you just going by the dudes word?

I wouldnt do it, go for something that you know is ok, it may cost more, but its not worth the risk to buy something that might be complete ass. imo.

Rebuild kits for Garrett turbos are actually cheap as hell...assuming that the compressor blade didn't come into contact with the housing...

You can buy prerebuilt cartridges that only require the dissasembly of the turbo...then slapping it back together...best part is, it's prebalanced!

http://www.turbocity.com/TurboCartridge.htm

Only the seals and bearings kits run around 30 bucks...so I could imagine it possible to pick up a shot core and rebuild it...but 100 dollars is what some people would pay for a non reman core.

Just to let you know I had a 2 bad experiences with rebuilt turbos. They were the same turbo I bought it rebuilt (T-28) and after I put it on it didn't even spool, then I had it rebuilt again. Put it on it spooled and did fine for 2 months then it started smoking really bad. So I replaced it with a T3/T4. But it may have been the company that built the turbo.
