hey man anytime. I understand what it feels like to get ripped off. My company is the first ones to do it if your not watching. But ya man when you fix the A\C and let me know. My boy said he will hook you up.

that, and almost any good A/C technician has a halogen leak detector.....will detect a leak down to 2oz/year(mine does) with the size leak you have, it is easily visible, using a soapy solution on lines/fittings/etc. a leak will have traces of oil around it, most of the time, and that is due to the refrigerent carrying the PAG oil out of the system. Dye is carried in the oil, unless you get the new dye-impregnated R134a, and if the leak doesnt bring oil out with it....then you don't have dye to show where it is.
with a leak as large as you described..i would look at either a line witha large crack, or the more likely posibility...a scraeder valve leaking. just some suggestions....

Well I found out where the leak is and I hopefully fixed it. I also charged it up with freon and it blows really cold air now. I just hope it doesnt leak out again. We will see. Next time I am going to do it myself. It was so easy.
