Transmission troubles?
The transmission in my '90 CRX DX is on it's way to a better land. When I down shift, it will make a whining, almost grinding sound. Also, when the car is in neutral and the clutch is up, it will make the same sound. This particular sounds directly corresponds with the revolutions of the engine. Also, whenever I push in the clutch, the sound will completely go away.
Input shaft bearing?? Anyone selling a transmission? Thanks

Re: Transmission troubles?
With the clutch pedel disengaged off the floor the throwout bearing does not touch the clutch.
It has a bad mainshaft bearing. It is very common with that tranny.

Re: Transmission troubles?
Throwout bearing. I only say that b/c I bet that Brock didn't replace the old one when he put in the new clutch. However, there is still a chance of it being the input shaft bearing.... Brock, I would pull the inspection plate from the bottom of the tranny and see if there is any trace of tranny fluid leaking. I bad input shaft bearing will cuase the shaft to "wobble" and it wears the input shaft seal out causing tranny fluid to leak out all over the clutch and flywheel.
