Looking to purchase a 50cc bike and a 150cc donor bike. They were both stolen and recovered from the Police Department. Current owner purchased them from police department. Since 50cc bikes don't require titles, it never came with a title from the Police Station, but one should have came when first owner purchased it. Current owner will be proving a full receipt from Him to me and Police station to him.

I need a title to register the bike after doing the 150cc swap. Is there a process for reTitling a recovered stolen vehicle/bike?

You will need to apply for a reconstructed or specialty VIN.

Keep ALL receipts, file paperwork with DMV, and they will have it inspected so they can give you a new VIN and title.
