Default tire question

pretty clueless about tires so wanted to ask a question real quick..

ignoring performance.. would it be bad for a 240sx if you put a 215/50 tire on the rear passenger side when all the other tires are 205/55?

thanks in advance

time for an auto tech session... how to read tire sizes

205/55R15

the first # is the width of the contact point. The higher the value, the wider the tire is. The 2nd number is the aspect ratio of the tire height. Of course, the higher the value, the taller the tire is gonna be. And finally the last number is the rim size. Mount only 15" tires on 15" rims. 15.5 is not 15. Just making it clear.

its better to have same tire sizes on both sides if you like going straight and your tire treads staying even.

I'm assuming (or rather, hoping) that you're only doing this just as a stopgap solution until you get the proper sized tire to match the others.

If that's the case, you'll look dumb, but you'll be fine if you're just trying to get to the tire shop.

will the differing tire sizes here really make a difference when trying to keep your car straight?

and this couldn't in harm the car itself in any way correct? just the treads would wear unevenly and it'd be a bit awkward?

it would play a huge deal in keeping proper alignment, and even tire wear.

again though, it should only be a temporary solution.

Staggered setup is fine then. Lots of people run wider tires in the back.
