Default Tinting taillights? Anyone know how?

Looking for links, tips, or your own DIY for doing a GOOD job at tinting taillight lenses. I have a set laying around that I got for free, so I want to tint them and resale them.

I googled it for 10 minutes or so, and it looks like most people sand the lights with 800, working up to 1200. After thoroughly cleaning them, spray them with VHT Nite Shades tint spray to desired darkness. Then lightly sand the tint with 1200 to even out the surface, and spray a plastic clearcoat.

Anyone have any input?

To add.

If your going to sand you want to buff out afterwards and clear it up before you spray.

Work from this..
Wetsand. in a cross hatch pattern ie. Up and down with 600 then right to left with 1000 and switching between every step.

600
1000
1500
2000

Then some Plastx. Rubbing compound.

When I painted my turn signals I did this.

Disregard the stuff that doesn't apply to you.

Looks like you've pretty much got everything you need. I used the nite shades stuff as well. Worked out pretty nice.

heat gun
patience
2500 grit paper on the inside
polish
night shade
urethane selant

refinishing your tail lights on the outside with a lense restoration kit ( 1000 grit thru 2500 grit, plastic polishing compund, and flannel cloth) will seal the deal

Seems to be a pretty good difference in opinion on 'what works'. Anyone else?

I've used the Niteshades product. It worked great. All I did was scuff the lenses and spray until I got the level of tint I wanted.
