those who have car painting experience...
so I have a 94 Integra with poorly maintained paint and mismatched fenders...I want to spraypaint the whole car flat black just so that it will all be one color...what i want to know is what should i do as far as prepping the car? i know i'm going to have to sand some of the factory paint down in order for any kind of paint to stick....i'm thinking sand, wet sand, primer, black paint?
any help is appreciated...

Re: those who have car painting experience...
sand to about 320 grit. prime with some decent ( not cheapo) primer. re-sand smooth and paint. i wouldnt wet sand. seems like it would take off too much paint for what you are trying to accomplish. the smoothness of a wetsand wont make much difference because of the quality of the spray paint anyway.

Re: those who have car painting experience...
thank you for the info....so should i use only 320 grit throughout the process? or start with something rougher and get smoother and smoother until i get to 320?

320-400 grit is a scratch you can spray right on top of
sand your car down till all the surface youre painting is dull get the shiny spots out (clearcoat areas) use some *self etching primer* let it sit for a lil while after it drys then sand it down with *320-400 grit* after you have some good scratch on the primer wipe your car down with some grease remover i use *grease lightning* or *rubbing alcohol* then your are ready to paint... i assume you arent gonna use a clear coat because you wanna go flat...and make sure the masking tape you use seals really good

I have "heard" you can rent a booth somewhere here local. I bought a devilbliss ( i think is the name) gun and a nice filter to paint my own car...I gained alot of respect for painters after that!!!
I also learned the hard way about painting in a garage attached to your house. Ever seen Flamenco Black Pearl coated ceramic tile...HaHa...my wife was pissed. (forgot to tape along the bottom of the garage door going into our kitchen)
