Thinking of ditching the Tundra Rock Warrior for a Honda CR-Z Hybrid
 

So basically.... I drive 87 Miles ONE way to work... 6 Times a month (Firefighter)


Trading the Rock Warrior Tundra in for a Hybrid might be my best option.. any thoughts on the CR-Z?

Truck payment is $510 + 95 for insurance.. and 17 mpg lol..

I can sort of relate.

I had a 2010 Tacoma (doublecab/prerunner) that I bought new and loved.

My employer moved, so my commute each way went from 5 miles to almost 20 miles.

After about a month I came to the realization that I was going to be broke just paying for gas.

Traded the Taco in for a 2012 Honda Fit Sport, and I love it. Getting 32mpg, and that's with a shitload of city and stop/go tunnel traffic.

It's certainly a compromise, and you lose the utility that a truck offers, but I haven't regretted it at all.

Pretty boring to drive unless in sport mode.

a Fit Sport or TDI Golf would be solid options to consider as well.

the CR Z is one of the most underwhelming cars I have ever driven.

I drove a buddies TDI this morning, I live in Sterling now so the price of Diesel is ridiculous lol.

I have heard mixed reviews of the CR-Z... So I am assuming the FIT Sport is the best option for a daily driver.

Seems like you're going from one extreme to another, any number of cars can do up to 30 mpg(especially if you're doing mostly hwy) and be plenty fun to drive. My friend has one and loves it, constantly brags about getting 50mpg as well. Not my cup of tea though..Hell my g35 and g37 get up to 28mpg and I do 80% hwy.

Saving for a house and want to save as much money as I can lol, so a $270 car note will be LEGIT!

Was paying $420/mo for the Tacoma, paying $270/mo for the Fit.

Between that and the gas savings, I'm paying over $300 less per month with the Fit.

Eh, I don't know what diesel runs up your way, down by me it's about the same as premium. Digi on here has a TDI Jetta 4dr, he says it gets 40-50mpg. So while the cost of diesel is grater upfront it last longer and you burn less of it so it evens out, at least that's my logic. Plus a diesel will last forever.

I'm a tad biased when it comes to diesels v. gas so take my opinion w/ a grain of salt.
