Sub resistance? 2 ohms...4 ohms...?
I really don't understand the resistance thing with ohm ratings. I have two 12" subs that are 4 ohm. If I bridge them on an amp, am I getting the 2 ohm power rating from that amp?
Somebody help me out...

if you have two 4 ohm speakers and wire them in parallel you are give the amp a 2 ohm load. if you bridge the amp into that two ohm load the amp sees a 1 ohm load per channel.
I'm sure there are better explanations out there just google it, and there are probably load calculators on the web.

this link should help

Just make sure you don't wire any speakers to a lower impedance then your amp is rated for

It's actually really simple. Most all amps will tell you which 2 channels to wire to for bridgeing. Just start from the positive terminal and go to the positive of the 1st speaker. Most newer speakers also have 2 terminals on the positive and negative side so just run a wire from that same positive terminal to the next speaker and your done. Just do the same for the negative side. Or google!

Draw me a diagram explaining what you're doing. You've bridged them? What kind of amp is it? Is it mono? And you're sure you have SVC, and not DVC? Let me know. It's not that... but mono kind of throws a trick into it.

Check out this site. It lets you know everything you want to know about wiring, and how to.
If your subs really are DVC, and are 12" 4OHMS.. and you have a 2 channel amp, something like this:
Hope this helps. Let me know if you're still lost.

Re: Sub resistance? 2 ohms...4 ohms...?
I know how to bridge subs on an amp, the amp I have now is bridged...I just need to know the resistance so I can see exactly what kind of power I'm getting from an amp when I bridge two SVC 4-ohm subs on it. I'm looking for a new amp and I want to be able to look up the power ratings and know exqactly what power I'm getting when I wire my subs to it.

I'm 100% positive they're SVC. I saw a diagram there that assured me that my two 4-ohm subs bridged is a 2-ohm resistance. I was thinking that, but couldn't find any diagrams that showed exactly what I wanted.
Have them bridged on a two channel right now.
Thanks a lot man!
