So when is a parking ticket worth contesting?
I ask because of this. I came out to my car today with a parking ticket on it. I had parked near a sign indicating the border between a 2 hour parking zone and a loading zone. I got a ticket for being parked more than 30 minutes in the loading zone. Funny thing is, what the ticketer considered me being parked in the loading zone was the first foot (approximately) of my car past the sign. That was a dick move especially since they very rarely regulate parking around the area. I guess today was my lucky day.
So should I contest this? 40 dollars is a lot of money to me at this point.

poor college kids are hurting for money.
Ian if you need 40 bucks I gotcha back boo, just pay it. No moving violation and technically you were still in the wrong zone.

I mean, I don't think $40 is nothing, but you are seriously thinking about fighting a $40 parking ticket that means nothing more than you are $40 poorer? Its probably gonna end up costing you more in time and gas to fight it than to just pay it and forget about it. If $40 is really that much money to you, you need to rethink some things. No one should be hurting that much for money.
Really shitty why you got the ticket though.

Wow sounds like a BS ticket i just got last night. I get home at 6pm and park my car at a friends house, there were not any NO PARKING SIGNS in sight. friend walks in the house at 11pm and tells me my car has a ticket on it and the ticket reads 8:11pm. So between 6 and 8 VDOT decides to come put a No Parking sign where me and my friends cars were parked around the corner on the side of the curb. Im fighting this one.
