I have the opportunity to pick up an 04 rx8. Its auto unfortunately :( but its a great price so I'm not complaining. Any input?

Great rule of thumb. My mind is/was pretty set on my decision, just posting to get some opinions plus to be a bit more active within the forum besides just the classifieds.

Have you ever owned a rotary engine car? They're not very powerful and not good on gas.

I haven't owned one before but I've noticed that. My mindset is that I'm going from my 96 to an 04. I love my Benz but this is a pretty nice opportunity. It's going to be my DD so it doesn't have to be crazy powerful, just enough to have some fun from time to time :D

A buddy of mine had one for a few years when they came out, he hated the auto, and had a ton of problems with the car too

Fairly certain it was mostly engine troubles, don't think the auto gave him mechanical issues at all, but it was always in and out of the shop. Finally gave in and got a STi

Oh, ok. Honestly, I'll probably do the same; drive it for a good while and move on. I've liked the car since I saw it in the X-men movie when I was like 13 and have an opportunity to fulfill a childhood dream a little lol.
