Default Recommendations for a "beater" car?
Looking for a beater while my other project gets underway.

What makes/models are well known for having long road life? Looking for something cheap (under 1,000) just for transportation, and to learn stick on. Something reliable and thats easy to maintain... An old toyota? Honda?

Oh, and the project... it's not a dub. I'll be posting progress pics when applicable. need a beater in the meantime, thanks!
