quick question about intakes
i wonder if there is really a difference between cheap ebay intakes and a expensive one like a k&n intake? does anyone know, whats better? i mean couldnt you just get the cheap intake and buy k&n filter or something or would that still not make a difference? thanks guys

Re: quick question about intakes
It all depends on where the intake is routed. Some intakes are routed into the fender well to suck air to the engine that hasn't been heated by the warm engine compartment. An intake like this is going to be more exspensive than just a shorty intake. Also, it depends what intakes are made out of in cases. Some intakes are made of materials that reflect or dissipate heat quicky which would benefit over a cheaper intake that is made out of lesser grade materials. It goes back to the ole saying, " you get what you pay for".

Re: quick question about intakes
If you're comparing mandrel bent aluminum intakes, they're all the same as long as they are the same size and routed the same. The filter makes a tiny bit of difference, but with a non-turbo engine you're really not going to come anywhere near enough flow to make one filter different than another. An expensive ceramic coated intake might pick up a tiny bit of power, but you can easily get that much power from somewhere else with the big jump in price.
They're all made of the same stuff, dont' worry about that..
Buy an ebay intake and spend the rest of your money on other stuff.

Re: quick question about intakes
definiately get a cold air intake for best performance, and while ur at it a bored intake manifold and bored throttle body would help maximize intake performance...a short ram will get u about 6hp and a cold air about 9 or so...some of the ebay intakes are jst crap though(ive heard about the filters falling off and pieces breaking)....jst my .02
