Project 2.5

A Friend and i have decided to come up with a challenge and project that will keep us busy while having fun. We call it Project 2.5 and the basis is that we each buy a car that is $1500 or less and we will only have $1000 to spend on it. With that said, we decided to post it up here for anyone that would like to join us in our adventure. Every rule will be left to each persons interpretation. We will be posting progress and pictures of our builds along the way.

Here are our rules:

PROJECT 2.5

Duration – June 7th 2013 until June 31st 2014 (1 Year From Start Date)

Rules:
1. Car must be $1500 or less. No commonly modified cars e.g. WRX, 240sx, civic, miata, crx
2. Amount of money spent on the parts to fix/upgrade must be below $1000, unless you spend less than $1500 on your car, in which case the difference can be added to the $1000.
3. If buying parts online, then shipping and handling aren't subtracted from the $1000; tools are not included in the part budget.
4. If doing challenge with friend, then they may buy a part or object for your car and you have to put it on (keep it PG). Only friends that are playing can do this.
5. Keep receipts for proof of budget.
6. If you are part of the project, then make it known on your car.
7. Car must be from 1999 or older.
8. Car needs to be running for at least 3 months.
a. 25 miles a month average (if you pull motor to work on, just make it up the next month with 50 miles; use odometer as proof)
9. Can’t already own car, needs to be bought and shown proof at time of completion.
10. If parts are aesthetic and don’t add performance or degrade performance don’t add it to the budget e.g. stickers, shift knobs, gauges, stereo equipment.
11. Gas is not part of budget.

How to win

1. Whoever finishes challenges, determined at time of completion of project.
a. Challenges shall fulfill the criteria of
i. Handling
ii. Braking
iii. Top speed
iv. 0-60
v. 60-100
vi. Functionality e.g. comfort, daily driver, gas saving.
2. Street Cred trumps all.
If you have questions we will be free to clear it up!

This reminds me of the grass root challenges.

Interesting to say the least.

is the limit $1500 because you're trying to rip off GRM or is it because you're 16 years old and spent all your money on weed and terrible shoes?

So you're going to organize and host a competition to determine the winner?

so...like LeMons?

Idk how far Matt wants to take it. It's really not that organized. We were just on craigslist looking at beaters and thought it would be fun and we'd learn a lot about an unfamiliar car. He posted this to see if anyone else wanted to do it too. We've seen it done before and we take no credit for the idea, just wanted to try it on a smaller scale.
