Question Poll! What to buy, have $35,000 to spend

I'm doing this poll for the benefit of a friend. He sometimes has trouble making decisions. He's a real gear head and has owned some decent cars in the past which include a '94 Del Sol SI VTEC, '96 Mazda Miata, '96 Integra, MKII Toyota Celica and a '00 Civic SI. With a budget of $35,000 TOTAL, what should he buy?

*'97-'98 Supra TT (would be modified to a total investment of $35K)
*'93-'95 RX-7 TT (would be modified up to a total investment on $35k)
*'99-'01 Boxster S
*"NEW" Honda S2000
*"NEW" Nissan 350Z Track Edition
*"NEW" Nissan 350Z Convertible Performance Edition
*"NEW" Lancer EVO VIII
*"NEW" WRX STI

The car will be a weekend TOY, so practicality doesn't really matter.

other: vette

is this just to have a nice weekend car? or something to mod? if he's not worried about modding, the boxter is a very nice car.. my friend has one, and it's a blast.. repairs are EXPENSIVE though.... if he wants to mod it, then i say RX7.. from the looks of the choices he seems to be fond of the steering wheel... otherwise i'd have suggested a LS1 Trans-am

I would go with the boxster S great car for picking up that one night stand. I used my dads all the time for that.

I'm surprised that too that an 03 Cobra isn't up there. Also you might wanna look into a Z06. My personal opinion of heavily modified Supras is you are buying someone else's problems. Not to say they are problematic but I just would not buy a highly modded Supra. Also I would say get something with ATLEAST 6 cylinders because no matter how you look at it THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT.

if hes looking for a car with balls id get an 02 SS and put $5,000 worth of mods on it and comfortably be hunting for mid 11s otherwise get a 3 series bmw or a new hardtop 350Z.

Actually revs do not replace displacement. Without displacement you have no torque. You can rev the piss out of a small motor however it will still not have torque that a larger motor would put out. Furthermore smaller motors that are turbocharged tend to need race gas to put out good numbers whereas a larger motor can still put out good numbers on pump gas (93 octane or less).
