What kind of rims do you have? Steelies, chrome, polished aluminum, painted...

Mothers has a cool red sponge thing that attaches to a drill along with some decent polish. Performance Autosport in Richmond has a lot of detailing compounds that am sure they could recommend for you -- much better selection than at Wal-Mart or Pep Boys.

I take it you are not talking about a previously polished wheel.....

1. I would start by removing the tires and stripping the wheels with aircraft remover.
2. Then start sanding with ~400 grit sandpaper and work your way up (in steps of 200) to 2000. The sandpaper grit you start with will depend on the roughness of the current surface.
3. Then you need to start polishing with progressively finer polishing bars or compounds till you get the shine you want.

Expect to spend at least 10-15 hours per wheel

If you cant find a write-up on exactly what you are looking for, try google'ing motorcycle frame polishing.

the finish will dull slightly over time (few months) but a quick polish....(easy as putting on wax) will bring the shine to original. waxing the wheels when you wax the car will slow the dulling the process.

Heres a link for you....http://www.schiebel.ca/Polishing/Dir...directions.htm
