Nissan recalls 713,986 Altimas and Sentras
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21938658/
TOKYO - Japanese automaker Nissan said Thursday it is recalling 713,986 Altima and Sentra sedans in North America, especially in the United States, as their motors can stop functioning spontaneously.
The models affected are 2002 Altimas and Sentras and 2005-2006 models with 2.5 liter engines. An element in the car’s engine is susceptible to overheating and can stop working briefly, which can cause the entire engine to stop working.
The recall relates to 622,634 Altimas and 28,373 Sentras in the United States, a spokesperson for Nissan said. The rest of the cars in the recall were sold in Canada and Mexico.

The engine doesnt have to over-heat for a part to over-heat... and fail.
Some bosch trionic coil-packs just over-heat on their own. The engine never over heats.
I think I read the part in question is the crank sensor.

the crank and cam sensors have the same part number, so we normall replace them at the same time, and since they have the same life span one can go , and the next day the other one will.
I've replaced like 3 of those sensors in a week span. just to let you know how poop they are.
