Default New BMW M5 (E60) 507hp V10

Well the flaming has died down a little so it's time for it to start again! Bring on the competetion; personally I don't think this car has any (at all.)

An RS6 doesn't have anything on the new M5, not only does the new M5 have more power, it's also lighter (better power to weight ratio than the M3 CSL.)

The engine is an aluminum V10 that weighs the same as the old M5 motor, yet develops 107 more horsepower (without the use of any forced induction.) This is the only car in the super-sedan market using an all-motor design (Jag S-Type R, Merc AMGs, Audi RS6 are all FI.)

The block is cast in the same plant that makes the V10 Williams BMW F1 powerplants (you can see the similarities in the engine picture with the throttle trumpets showing.)
To keep the rev-happy (understated 8,250rpm redline) V10 happy they picked a 7 speed SMG III sequential transmission that uses a getrag 7 speed manual developed for the engine/chassis. No, there will be no manual. And no, a 6 speed would not work (not enough gears to keep it in the peak power band.)

Weighs 3,800. Top speed is 205mph, and 0-60 is rumored to be sub-4 seconds. (March press release said 0-200km/h in 13 seconds.)

Looks aside - it's an amazing car.

Tubular stainless steel headers/exhaust system.

As far as grip goes, if a base E60 525i can pull .92g on the skidpad, this thing (255 front tires, 285 rear) will be sick on the track.

Actually it is, running around the Nurburgring in exactly 8 minutes (for all you 'vette lovers from the other flame-e36dj-threads, that's the same time a current Z06 gets.)

1.) Its exactly 8 MINUTES, not 8 seconds. It's not THAT fast
2.) The current z06 goes in 7:56, which is 4 seconds faster. Still, the M5 is pretty fucking fast.
3.) That car is SEXY.
