Need some advice
I am ordering my b16 on the week of the 8th. I am thinking about turboing it. Is this a good idea? If so what kit do you guys reccomend? I really want to S/C it but I have heard they dont make power past 5k RPM. Any adivce would be appreicated

well dont get an s/c, engine is too small, you gotta have power to make power. as far as a turbo b16, dont really know. if you want a turbo, maybe a zc would be better

turbos are more efficient as far as power goes, but you have the chance of turbo lag too. I think turbo's are better for the engine w/ the boost controller since for simple daily driving you can put it on the lower setting, where as to change the boost for a s/c you need to change out pulleys. Not to mention you get a nice BOV sound of course, you can always replace the bpv for a bov... but whatever.

Re: Need some advice
ive talked to alot of people who have went the s/c route and they always regret it.
theres no feeling like when my turbo spools and i get sucked into my seat at 4k rpm. can't beat it
if you build it right you can get the torque to push you in the lower rpms too
i def. will stick with me turbo

Re: Need some advice
yeah the only sc kit thats worth it is the vortech kit which makes ~276hp and has an intecooler and i think a bov for like 4.5gs, and the only thing that stops power production on the vortech is the revlimiter. what ever you do don't waste money on the eaton setup look at what you spend on it then compare the power to a centrifugal setup costing the same money you will see what people complain about! gredy makes a decent turbo kit thats street legal puts out a little over 200hp and is about 3gs. some people say you need custom piping for hybrid setups, i say relocate that battery, bust out that emery wheel and touch up paint!

Re: Need some advice
My old CRX had a JRSC'd D16Z6 and it put out enough HP for my likings. Then again, I wasn't out to race everybody or attempt to break any landspeed records. Anyways, you already know my thoughts about that whole racing issue...
If I had to do it again, I'd go JRSC again, and have Larry (T.O.O.) modify it for me.
Already knowing that you're putting the B16 into your CRX, you may encounter clearance issues trying to get one to fit a SC into the engine bay, so that may leave you with either the option of going turbo, NA, or nitrous.
Stay NA for a bit and if you decide that's not enough power, spend your $$ first on upgrading the brake system before you go FI.
