Default metal polishing?

I have some stainless steel exhaust tips with a chrome finish that I'd like to get polished. They have a few surface scratches (that you can't feel) in them that I'd like to remove. Or, if anyone knows of a good way to remove them... how? 1,000 grit sand paper and some rubbing compound?

Thanks in advance.

You can call/try Royal Silver in Norfolk. They do chroming and polishing, but they are expensive. I took some stuff there, but they wanted too much $$. I ended up finding a guy in TN who does chroming at a awesome price and he does awesome work. I just sent him a bunch of stuff this week, but if you want someone local try, Royal Silver.

PM punxva.

I have seen his polishing work. An intake manifold and a valve cover, and they looked real good in the end. Maybe he can assist you.
