Re: material of spoon wheels???
i don't know about Spoon in particular but there are many companies that use Magnesium and various forging processes to make really light wheels.

Re: material of spoon wheels???
I don't think they're made of anything special, Desmond makes them for Spoon and they're just forged aluminum as far as I know. If they're forged they can be a fair bit more minimalist than cast wheels for the same strength. They may be AlMag (alum/magnesium alloy) instead of just aluminum, which would make them lighter still, but I haven't found anything besides speculation to back that up. I think they're just expensive because they're from Spoon. Desmond Regamaster EVOs are the same wheel, just not private labeled for Spoon.
A long time ago when I was looking into AlMag wheels for our race cars, I found a whole bunch of posts from people who were super paranoid about having magnesium content in wheels (OMG! What if they catch on fire?) which was really funny. I love the interweb.
