Looking for quiet Honda exhaust...
My wife has a 97 Civic DX hatchback. The exhaust is completely rusted through for the second time since we've had the car. The prices I've been quoted to replace it are just about as much as replacing the entire exhaust with an aftermarket model. Since the rest of the car is fine and the engine still runs strong, I thought about just doing that. I want something that looks somewhat stock and is relatively quiet. Any suggestions?
Suggestions for a good place to order from would be greatly appreciated too...

RSR is quiet, Apexi WS is fairly quiet, also see if you can find a nice SS piping kit and have a universal muffler welded in. IF you want to go that route let me know, my buddy does great exhaust work and can definitely knock it out for you

Again; RS-R ex-mag if you can find one or the APEXi WS2.
I have the WS2; it's pretty quiet and it keeps me out of trouble.

A lot of the run-of-the-mill auto parts stores can order a prefabbed exhaust sytem that mimics the factory one. They're usually really cheap too.
if it's your wife's car and she's not interested in "tuner" stuff, you can probably go that route for less than $100

Re: Looking for quiet Honda exhaust...
We checked with a couple places that do exhaust work around here and both wanted over $700 to replace it. Because of where the pipe rusted through, the exhaust manifold itself needs to be either repaired or replaced. Both shops talked like it would be easier to just replace it. The cat needs to be replaced too. It's a big mess under there. The rest of the car is in pretty good shape though, and probably still has many years left in it, so I don't mind replacing the entire exhaust with something good.
Going to look into the ones mentioned. Any good sources for mail order parts? I know a lot of the good Subaru-specific suppliers, but don't know much about ordering Honda parts...

that's the thing, don't go to an exhaust shop. as everyone else has stated, you can get aftermarket factory replicas to go on it.

An exhaust shop will quote you the cost to fabricate up an exhaust system. You can order a factory replacement for a fraction of the cost. Then all you have to do is have someone weld it up there or clamp it if you want.
