There are literally thousands of options and very few people really can tell a difference between the good ones. Adam's buttery wax is a good one to start with. Its easy to use. I've had really good luck with Lusso Oro. Opti shine is a great sealant if you want to go that route instead of wax. It's extremely easy to use.

Wax is a protectant. Polish is not.
To get a good polish shine, you need to get the wax off of the vehicle.
If it's your first time, Wash with regular stuff, then Palmolive (but never let that shit dry in the sun), (also a good point to do a clay bar if needed) then do a polish to get that shine, then apply a good protective wax. Don't try to apply wax on top of sludge.
