Local S2000/Ferrari F40 owners dicsussion thread
I also happened to be the 5th fastest in Richmond, VA @ AIK/G-force (within my 10th time ever in a kart) and I rarely even go; so I do indeed understand the concept of going around a track. Driving is something that just came natural to me. I'm not some pansy non-driving fuck.
The only problem I have with 4.77's is how high it makes you spin on the highway. I've heard getting an AP2 tranny in an AP1 is like having 4.44's in the first 5 gears, but with a stock AP1 6th, which is basically all I would want. I really want to get 4.44's or 4.57's, but I dont want to spin 5k @ 70mph.
Not many tracks besides something small like driftwater are really low speed though. VIR only really has one "low speed" corner, and thats oak tree. The rest of them you can pick the right gear and be right in the meat of the powerband just about every single time. Summit Point doesnt really have any low speed corners, unless you cound T1 as a low speed corner. I'd be more worried about the constant shifting than the torque in an S2000 at most racetracks. And also top speed at the tracks with longer straights (VIR has two where you'd probably hit 120-130 in an S2000, SP Main has 1). I dont know what 4.77's give you as far as top speed goes though.
Are you ever on S2ki? Some of us older members have been getting together for years... Starbucks, Cars and Coffee, small drives, etc. Where are you located?
I'm in Richmond, VA. I know most of you are out towards the shore, atleast on this thread.
Whatchu' talking about Willis? I can drive the wheels off my car, on a track or not. I have been to a few auto-x's, but money isn't right for a weekend HPDE yet. I could probably afford it, but don't have a car I feel comfertable enough putting around a track. Two-owner, 56k original miles; isn't the best track whore candidate.

Once I get my wheels and my front lip painted; I'm game for some meet ups. Maybe I could learn a thing or two about these cars.
Well jarrod we are both on the same page, lol. I shoulda mentioned mine wasn't the s2000 I was talking about for a "turbo track car." That shit would have me killed on a road course with how hard the power comes on.
I was more so speaking on something with a nice smaller t3 turbo (twin scroll, dual wastegates), and a very controlled, linear tune with a nice boost by gear set up. That kinda set up, with the right driver; would be scary fast and handle excellent with the linear tune.
