Default Local MR2 discussion thread

I'm copying Nick and Flite.

Ask questions, show off, pretend for a moment that it's running, whatever.

Here's a few of my old MR2 (Mk1):

The car had an AE101 4AGE 20V running AE111 electronics, XTD 9lb Flywheel & Stage 2 Clutch, D2 Coilovers, Prothane bushings, SpeedSource shift bushings, SpeedSource engine mount inserts, MR220V pnp harness, S3V 20V downpipe adapter, custom 2.25" OBX Twin Loop Exhaust, Magnaflow 2.25" Cat, Suspension Techniques Front and Rear sway bars, Super Advan SA3Rs 15x6.5, Side2Side Racing braided stainless fuel line supply...and plenty more.

Current car:

Plans are still up in the air. Car only has 102k on it and the A/C works...so whatever I put in has to be able to have A/C. I already have the Prothane Bushing kit, Kirkasaurus Engine Mount Inserts, Mk1 SC Hood, Mk1 SC Intercooler, Enkei RP02 16x7 +38s, Falken Azenis RT615-K 205 40 16s, HKS Sport Exhaust, Magnaflow 2" Catalytic Converter and a few other misc parts. I picked up an S54 transmission w/ axles in case I decide on ditching the A series engines.

I'm either going 4AGZE (AE92), 1MZFE or 4th gen 3SGTE. 4AGZE would be easiest as there's no modification to the chassis required. 1MZ and 3SGTE both require new mounts to be welded to the body but both also offer a much higher level of performance. I was against getting a 3SGTE but after seeing a few dynos against the 1MZ I found that the 4th gen 3SGTE (before boost) has just about the same power curve as the 1MZ does but then just blows it out of the water after boost builds up.

I'm not sure. Not planning to swap the engine until sometime next spring.

I was considering building an SW20 for a track car. It'd run a 1MZ though...

I've been reading up a lot on the new craze of putting a 2GR into a MKII. My build is just about done after sooo long, I have to decide whether to keep it and finally just enjoy it for now, or part out the 420whp Gen3 drivetrain and look into a 2GR with possibly a blower or twin turbo down the line.

Meh who knows. Other option is enjoy it for awhile, part it out and find a new project... on the fence.

Old picture, but you get the idea. Have since changed to Fortune Coilovers, Work Meister S1's, and a few other things.

Car looks great! I really want to do an SW20 eventually. Once I'm done with the AW11 I'll probably switch or build an SW along with it...then get a ZZ30 when I hit my midlife crisis stage LoL

Picked this up a few weeks ago from a young guy in chester for $600

1993 sunroof, N/A, auto with a 5 speed swap from a turbo 93. Kid lost interest after the 5sfe spun a bearing.

Picked up this 94 1mzfe 2 weeks ago to start my swap.

Waiting on my headers to come in

Thanks,
He was asking 800 for it and I was willing to pay it. While I was checking over the car, his mom pulled up and blasted " HAVE YOU SOLD THIS CRAP YET!!! I WANT IT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY!!" So I gave him $600 and dragged it home.
