I bought my 1990 240SX coupe in late 2010 from a member on here. The body hasn't really changed since then, it's always had a black hood and been a million different shades of red as well as covered with dings, dents, scratches, and pad patch jobs. I aim to get it painted someday.



The engine gave out around in January 2011. It developed a tick out of nowhere, which developed into a clank, which developed into a knock, which led to my motor seizing, all in the span of 5 minutes. I spent the next 3 months replacing the motor by myself and I tried to learn as much as I could along the way. I bought a KA24DE out of a 96 S14 off a member on the Sumospeed forums and proceeded to work magic on it. It passed a leak-down test with flying colors, the head was taken to a machine shop to be cleaned, port/polished and decked, I replaced every-single-gasket on the entire motor, and I did a ton of misc. mods, some of which (the ones I can remember) I will list here:

- retained the OBD1 S13 lower intake manifold, but swapped the upper plenum for the OBDII S14 manifold, thereby removing the secondary vacuum-operated butterfly valves
- completely removed emissions
- replaced S14 intake cam with S13 exhaust cam, now 248/232
- advanced timing 8 degrees
- Cometic metal headgasket



The motor's been running well since then, with the occasional minor problems. It slowly looses coolant from somewhere, I dunno whether it's burning or leaking it, but there aren't any puddles under the car and it doesn't smoke at all. The power steering does leak slowly at a fitting on the rack, and the clutch looses fluid too, due to a bad seal on the inside of the master cylinder.

The rest of the car has been coming along nicely. The suspension is a set of Megan Tracks (12KG front, 10KG rear) that have been molested far beyond any engineer's imagination, I'm ashamed to say. The exhaust is a replica Pacesetter longtube header to a Circuit Sports 3" test pipe finished out with 3" Isis Blastpipes, all stainless steel. It has a J30 LSD swapped in - none of that ghetto welded jank here. The factory rack and pinion has been replaced with an OEM S14 rack and pinion, as well as OEM S14 inner and outer tie rods and Moog tie rod ends. I paid out the ass for a primo set of Chasebays power steering lines and reservoir. No-name front and rear upper strut braces and a C-pillar brace. Fancy Nismo shift knob and e-brake drift knob. Also swapped out the god-awful ugly as shit factory seats for S14 driver and passenger seats.



Unfortunately, coming from the low and slow scene, hardparking is my first priority. I bought a set of Diamond Racing Wheels, 16x10 with a 0 offset in the front and 16x10 with a -12 offset for the rear, and I had to stretch the shit out of some tires and do work with a fender roller to get them to fit.






I'm saving up now for something with boost, in aims of ditching the KA. I also have big dreams of getting some legal seat time at a track. That being said, I've had my fair share of time in empty parking lots, getting to know how the car handles sideways.
