I was sweating my ass off last night installing this new gas tank. I tackled it by myself which made it more fun.
I finally realized after an hour why the fuck the straps were not meeting up with bolt holes...i had one side torqued down. i loosened everything than i was able to line everything up

Just stumbled upon this thread...ive been in the 240 game for a little while now. Im on my 3rd one, and plan to keep this one for a long time!

Started out with a beat S13 hatch with a half-assed SR20 swap. I was so excited to be able to buy a 240, that i jumped on the first one i found...which ended up biting me in the ass. This car was nothing but problems from the start. I got the drive it a total of 6 times before wrecking it...

Spoiler

After putting the hatchback into a patch of trees, i decided to replace the chassis instead of attempting to repair it. At the time, i would pass by a black coupe every day on the way to my girlfriend's house. Every day I wanted it more and more....well one day i just happened to be browsing CL, and just happened to find that exact coupe posted for sale that day. Needless to say, i bought it! It was basically stock when i bought it, other than KYB's and XXR wheels, but it didnt stay that way long. I pulled the SR out of the hatch, along with all the suspension i had put on it, and i transferred it all over to the coupe.

Spoiler

2 years later, and ive began to grow tired of the coupe. I was all over the place about selling it, or keeping it. The final deciding factor ended up being that i screwed something up in the head of the SR, and now it has a crazy ticking sound. I didnt want to spend the time/money/effort to fix it...so i took out a loan to purchase another car. I had my heart set on an SC300, but I couldnt find a factory 5 speed in good enough condition. Well right about the time i decided to stick with my coupe and throw an RB25 in it, I had the deal of a lifetime fall in my lap. A friend of mine just happened to put his 98 Kouki S14 up for sale since he blew his head gasket. After a little wheelin' & dealin', i ended up buying it for a helllll of a deal. Ill be replacing the head gasket over the next week or so, then she should be ready to hit the road! Ive wanted a Kouki S14 since i was old enough to drive...and somehow this one fell in my lap! Im super stoked to get started building this car!! She'll be getting JDM Kouki Aero ASAP! as well as new wheels!

Spoiler

i feel like i just told my whole life story LOL

Damn dude, everything is so clean! Definitely a fan of your car.

I went and looked at some Kouiki tail lights last night, didn't have the lower finish panel and the center garnish was a smoked ebay one. Guy said he'd take $215 since it'd be a hassle to get everything together, think it's worth it?

$215 isnt bad since your getting the lamp assy which are the main money parts. if you check ebay you possibly could come out ahead...lower metal finisher should be obtainable. you could always recover the middle ebay garnish with some real 3M carbon fiber DI-NOC. It would look close to what you would buy if you bought the oem RPS13 carbon fiber overlay.

You said you got a 96 right? Can't remember if 95 is the same as 96 as far as the heater core lines. 95s have a valve/flapper inline of the heater core lines, inside the engine bay while laster S14s doesnt. Not sure if yours has the valve or not, but on most 95s, that plastic valve have a tendency to deteriorate and fall apart. Thats the piece that usually leaks after it gets too old, atleast on 95s.

Any input on the Isis rs3871 turbo from enjuku? I know it doesn't compare quality or max hp levels to the gt2871, but at half the cost and me not being rich and still needing a tune with either setup I am considering it. My understanding is enjuku has a great warranty on the turbo as well.

I have the top mount t3 manifold, so i would need to run an adapter from t25 to t3 to mount the Isis and probably clock the turbo.

Isis 3871 is $500,$200 for any fittings, plus $500 tune,$300 roughly to have down pipe matched up and raise the hangers on my 3in exhaust. I need to toss on a silencer, damn Apexi exhaust is to loud for me, or maybe I'm just to old for it.

My motor has:
Mazworx head studs
Toda 264/264 cams
Apexi 8711 head gasket
Rocker arm stoppers (not that this matters)
Walbro 255
1000cc rc injectors
Synapse 40mm wastegate (need to dump into exhaust and not open)
Greedy type s bov (need to recirc)

I need to shim my j30 LSD for the time being till I pick up a Kaaz

Ive been running an ISIS RS3871 for a few months now on a bone stock SR20, and i love it! Im running 11psi, and it doesnt fully spool till ~4200 rpms...but on your motor, you should have considerably more response!! I say go for it! ive been nothing but pleased with mine!
