legal help on a converted type r
i have someone trying to trade me a type r replica for my em1. i mean this thing is a replica down to the lugnuts.
he told me he got a wrecked usdm type r and a 99 gsr body
then took everything off the type r and put it in the gsr. and it looks to be that way. then he got the car re evaluated by some official office in north carolina and it has been retitled as a type r....
sounds sketch? maybe...
i plan on running the vin on the engine to make sure its not stolen.
my question is, is this scenario even possible and things still be 100 percent legit?
and who could i get to look over the car and assure me its legit (and i mean nc officials.)
state trooper? if everything is legit like he says then he should have no problem letting the right people take a look at it.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: legal help on a converted type r
well i mean you could basically think of it like this. 99 gsr with a b18c5 swap.
that sound better
i mean im getting it for an em1. not bad if you ask me
i just dont wanna end up with a completely illegit car

the vin plates were switched out, i have seen this done, mainly with imported cars, but they are all illegit. but i dont think that helps since there is an original vin imprinted into the firewall correct?

If the VIN has been switched, stay far, far away. That's completely illegal and will come back to bite you. This sounds sketchy as hell, like it's been stolen or something. Any way you slice it, it's still a GSR with ITR parts, and you should still stay away from it because there is something really shady going on. If you want an ITR, get an ITR. Don't pay ITR money for a GSR with ITR parts.
