Lead fuel additive/race fuel
ok, id like to strat this thread by saying screw this new ethanol gas...i don't like it, it sucks. Now on to my main question(s), I saw a fuel additive that said it would turn unleaded fuel to leaded. Would this help my car run better. I have a 2002 WRX with basic mods and a utec(more fuel/boost/timing). Would this lead additive be good for my car and how will it help. Also i've heard of several gas stations selling 100+ octane fuel. Can i run this in my car without completly re-tunning it, with more boost of course. Any input would be great!

leaded race gas is bad for your 02's. I've run about 8 gallons of it through my 02WRX w/o problems, but not sure how long before it would create any with the o2. I have no problems with the new gas mix, car runs just as strong mileage is about the same perhaps better.
running straight 100 should give you the ability to run more boost/timing...tune it for each octane you run.

Yes, lead WILL poison your cat converter, it coats the catalyst and stops it from working properly (or at all).
Stay away from fuel additives, most of them are total useless crap.

I dotn have any cats, but you think that it is just a waste of time? What about mixing race/93 octane? not all the time but for special occasions

I would still get a tune for it with the utec. Im with twelvz, my car is running just fine with the mix, and thats will managment, bigger turbo and all the suporting mods.

Chris: don't just go anywhere and get it tuned. Not everybody will be professionals at using the UTEC, or the subaru. I recommend you go the #1 authority in subaru tuning...Turbo-Xs. Those guys have been tuning wrx's since they first came out, and they would give you the best possible tune you could get...depending on your needs. Heck, they made the Utec... And its only a 4 hour drive from here.
They will be pricey, but if i was going to spend any money on a pro-tune...i might as well spend $$ to get the best tune i can receieve.

Oh, and about the fuel additives...
Go to your local Sherwin Williams, and get some xylene...or toluene and add about 1/2 gallon. ( its expensive though). xylene before toluene if they got it. Remmeber, add it only when you have 1/4 left...and don't let it sit in the tank without 93 octane.
That should raise your octane a little ^_^
