jdm d15b or d16vtec vs jdm b16a
I have a jdm d15b vtec in my eg sedan, and i have a full jdm b16a swap with a b16 lsd trans that i was going to put in my car, but i have been thinking of selling all the b16 stuff and getting another single cam either d16y8 or d16z6, and a turbo kit and putting the turbo on the d15b for now and building the other d16, but i am torn on what to do because i love the b series but i love the idea of a single cam with some power, i am just looking for 250-300 whp just so the car is fun to drive and fun at the track, i would like to know what you guys and girls think thank you in advance let see what you think.

yeah, have you looked at the price for parts for a worthless B-series? They are outrageous. The D weighs less, has roughly the same torque and the parts prices are alot cheaper. Ditch the B-series and go with a D. Out of the options you have, I'd go with the JDM D15B OR (and i know its not one of your choices) D16A6...vtec is over-rated.
D15B for its nice rod:stroke ratio, same head as the Z6, same block as the Z1 and power is easily made just like its .1L counterparts.
D16A6 for its better main bearing cap(has a steel cap instead of a slightly weaker all aluminum piece like the Z6/Zc vtec), same block as the ZC, same head as the Zc non-vtec and 88-91 Si/ex/dx ; 92-95 Dx/Lx, nice torque and hp gains when cammed. Oh yeah, ALOT easier and cheaper to work on.
Parts for the D-series are easier to come by because of its high compatibility with almost all 1.5's and 1.6's.
I have about $1200 in my A6 motor build and will be spanking B's, H's and K's with it for alot less then it would cost just to swap one of those in my car.

If you have the D15B then stay with it. If you want cheap upgrades, then shave the head down around .020-.030" to get a nice bump in compression. Get a Z6 or skunk2 intake manifold, put a B18B Ls throttle body on(you'll have to port match the tb to the z6 manifold, a direct bolt-on for the skunk2), ebay header, 2.25in exhaust from a local muffler shop, ebay cold air intake. That right there will def give you some decent power, then even more if you get it tuned.
Then once you save your pennies, start working the head. Doing things like port/polish, valve springs and cam. You could easily get 130-140whp with the list above, i know cause i personally bulit one and seen them built.

I mean, a Built b-series bottom end will run about 1200?
400 - pistons
350 - rods
50 - bearings
100 - blockguard
200~ machinework
and then you have a bseries bottom end more than capable of handling 400+ hp
a stock gsr or b16 head ( possibly some gsr or type r cams, springs, rets)
and a good turbo setup. (peice one together for 1000-1800$)
Basically the same setup I had is the one described above and it made over 400 on 17lbs, Daily Driven. and was one of the fastest street cars in the area
or
a stock b16 with some gsr cams and the same turbo setup. (ramhorn mani, .60 trim turbo, 3 in charge pipes, 38 wastegate, etc, etc. made 275 on 8lbs.
Its up to you.

Re: jdm d15b or d16vtec vs jdm b16a
And this is def gonna be a tit for tat thread. This will always be a back and forth battle between B-series and D-series owners. If you have a D15B now, then i say build it. If you had a B in your car, i'd say build that...but i wouldnt take out the D15B just to do an expensive B swap.
...but, if you do decide to swap in a B...donate your d15b to me. I need a backup motor.
