Default Inspection laws

Does a car have to have its driver and passenger windows in the car to be legal. I know if they are in the car they have to function but what if they aren't there all together. Jeeps don't have to have them they don't even need doors. I have seen people take doors of of regular trucks to and they were fine so do i have to have the windows. ( i have a car not a truck)

The glass needs to be removed, not just "stored" within the door to pass. Looking in my Safety Inspection Manual (available from State Police for $20) in section 210, there does not seem to be anything that states that it would not pass if the glass were removed from the side windows.

----

Where can I get a copy of the Virginia Official Safety Inspection Manual?
You may request a copy by mail or in person from:

Mailing address: Department of State Police, Safety Division, P. O. Box 27472, Richmond, VA 23261-7472

Office address: Department of State Police, Safety Division, 7700 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23235

The cost is $20.00 (no shipping or handling). The purchase of inspection manuals at our office or by mail will be limited to payment by money orders, cash, or company checks (cash can only be used by walk-in customers). Personal checks are not accepted.

There's more technicals in the book. No side windows are required - but nothing can be in the place of it i.e. tarp, trashbag = rejection. If they are on the vehicle they must be functional.

You will fail for tinted taillights and I will assume (but cannot verify right now) that you will fail for no wiper blades.
