Default I'm looking for an S2000, what should I pay?

I've found a couple 2000 models for around $13k, and I think they might be willing to talk. There's a couple others I'm looking at that are more expensive but are kinda modded. I was probably gonna try to talk to them and lowball them as modded cars are a lot harder to sell, especially from a dealer.

I'm hoping to pick one up for around $10k, am I being unrealistic?

i'd say so. i think 11xxx k is a realistic number but it is will be very hard to find. and that will be with over 100k on the clock.

They are out there in the 10-11K range... But as stated they will have 100K+ miles on them. Search on www.s2ki.com or ebay and you may get lucky.

You should really consider saving a bit more money, or look at financing more. Check out the changes over the years, and keep the miles in mind.

i wouldnt pick an s up for 11k. its gonna have plenty of wear and tear. lots of miles. honestly, i wouldnt buy one with over 60k miles. majority of these cars get the living crap beat out of them. although they take it, and are very reliable, its still something i would be worried about.

like stated above, look into possibly financing. you can get a great, low mile, 02-03 for 16-19k. hell, i've even seen ap2's(04+), in the low twenties.

good luck.

yep like mine. 18k is the magic number for getting a lower mileage car with the right amenities(02-03)

I picked up mine for 19K with 21.5k miles, its an 03, it was wayyyyy under book. You just need to be patient and find the right one for you, even once in a while, you can find a deal like I did. It took me 2 months of searching, and I had to go to DC to get it, but it was well worth the wait.

I paid 17,600. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but it only had 20,050 miles on the clock, was a 2001 with 2005 17" rims, and hard a hardtop.

2000s have all sorts of transmission issues and 2000-01 have a really shitty plastic window in the softtop. If you spend a little more....... ergh.... a lot more it will be well worth it.
