I seek the help of VADRIVEN
Basically looking at picking up this car for a decent deal, I have no knowledge on VW's and am basically looking for input and knowledge on what to look for. Would be daily driving this thing for my commute to and from work which is about a 20 mile round trip. Would this thing be worth picking up on the cheap?
Here is all the info on the car that has been sent to me http://imganuncios.mitula.net/for_sa...5842538842.jpg VW golf K2 edition Miles: 221,2XX 5 speed manual A/c is cold and the heat is hot Heated front seats Power sunroof Power locks with stock alarm Panasonic touch screen CD player with remote Kenwood amp and Polk audio sub also 1995 corvette c5 rims 5 lug conversion disc brakes off a 2004 VW passat Race land adjustable coilovers Everything that's new: Timing belt Water pump Coolant reservoir Thermostat and gasket Coolant housing and gasket on the head for coolant fan sensors and replaced the gaskets for sensors Also new coolant That was all done last week (10/24/14) Spark plug wires Spark plugs Rotor cap and button Interstate battery HID 8k blue head lights and fog lights with ballasts LED interior light LED tag lights New stock VW clutch installed about 7k miles ago New tires put on 6k miles ago |
Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
It's a 200k mile shitbox modified with ebay bullshit parts. I wouldn't pay more than $2k at absolute best.

Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
Why would you want something with 22X,XXX miles and aftermarket wheels and suspension as a daily? Unless it's significantly below KBB value I don't know why you'd bother. I'm almost certain you could get one at a comparable price with fewer miles if you just got one without mods.

Ain't a TDI, ain't worth your time.

Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
You're going to need to replace those raceland coilovers, I wouldn't trust those to get out of the driveway.

Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
It's crazy how people on here are super quick to hate. I see where Raceland coils don't get good reviews, but where did OP say anything about EBAY parts? This forum is full of people with a low level of consciousness.

and racelands arent deathtraps either. theyre perfectly fine for the stancenation dudebros who want to just go low. hell, i autocrossed a set for a season when I had my Z because they came on the car. theyre far from ideal for any type of performance driving, but theyre not unsafe either. |
Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
i dunno what kind of deal ya found on it but I have no prob daily driving on coil overs. All my cars have always been daily drivers.
car looks sound to me, based on what all has been replaced. if ya drove it and dug it.... enjoy it man :) |
Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
Daily driving on coilovers isn't the problem. Driving period on shit coilovers is.
|
Re: I seek the help of VADRIVEN
That and he specifically said it would be a commuter car. What purpose do coilovers (especially shitty ones) serve on a commuter car? The mileage is the worst thing though. I'd trust a 200k+ Golf about as far as I could throw it.
