Hybrids & The HOV
So I am currently entertaining the idea of buying a hybrid that qualifies to be driven on the HOV lanes as a single occupant. In the state of VA the following cars apply for this:
I have had so many thought in my head on what I want to buy but I am having an extremely hard time making a decision, so of course, where to better get advice than VaDriven!
Cars of consideration:
- Chevy Volt
- Honda Civc Hybrid
- Honda CR-Z 1.5L
- Ford Escape
- Toyota Highlander
- Ford Fusion
This is obviously a huge spectrum of cars to choose from with many different variables. I have yet to drive any of the cars above and before I do, I'd like to hear some opinions.

Re: Hybrids & The HOV
I thought the same thing, but it has to be considered a hybrid. Definitely vague.

Cars of consideration:
- Chevy Volt - Over priced to hell
- Honda Civc Hybrid - Driven in one, seemed cheaply put together, weird for honda.
- Honda CR-Z 1.5L - Test drove one for the clam, cool body shape, handling blows, not enough MPG's for me to consider cutting my balls off though
- Ford Escape
- Toyota Highlander
- Ford Fusion
-04 Prius - My family owned both generations. First one we got right as it was released, put 120,000 miles on it in three years. Great little cars, considering they came out at $26k and you get them for under 10K EASILY right now...its an amazing deal for not only gas, a tax break, and being able to drive in the HOV lane, but its a yota its going to last and services were really light on the wallet compared to my dads MB.

Re: Hybrids & The HOV
You know the Hybrid hov exemption is going to expire on June 30th in ur area? I would wait to see if it get's extended. I perosnally hate hybrids clogging up the HOV on 395.
