Default How many quarts of paint?

Hello. I have a 1994 Teal honda civic hatchback. I plan to get a buddy of mine to repaint, and he'll do it for free if I help, all he told me to do was order the paint. I found a good site to purchase it from, but as far as how much I need to get, i'm clueless.

How many quarts of paint do I need to fully repaint just the outside of the whole car?

How much primer do I need to get?

and one last one...

How much clear coat should I order?

please help..planning to do this soon.

First off, remove the bold... it's not necessary.

You should only need to prime areas that are completely down to bare metal, so I don't think you'd need a lot of primer.

For the base, it typically takes about a gallon, but a Civic is a little smaller than average so maybe you could get away shooting a little less.

Same goes for the amount of clear.

Also, I've been out of the business for a few years now, so my advice might be a little rough around the edges. Wait for one of the current painters to chime in before you run off spending money...

P.S. You're also going to need reducers/thinners and all the other applicable stuff. They can add up too.

honestly... if you dont know much about painting...i would charge you more if you helped.

if your just respraying the outside of the car the same color and fixing dings and rock chips...i would charge 1200.
