How to gain ownership of abandoned car in my yard?
 

Alright well long story short, I have a car in my driveway of my house, and its registered inmy former roommates name. He skipped town 3-4 months ago, never paid me the rent he owes, and also left his car in my yard. I have the old title and registration but I need information on how to gain ownership of it legally. He's not coming back as far as im concerned and I need to make some money by parting it out.

If you are parting it out, and not registering it to drive it, just part it out.

you don`t need to obtain a thing, just part it out.

OR

call a "we buy junk car" place. Someone left their project truck with me for 3 years, they never came to work on it, never mentioned anything about it and after 2 years i never saw them again..... Made $400. So long as it`s more than 10 years old they don`t care where it came from or why.

Just tell them it was abandoned for over a year.

I don't want to part the entire thing out, just minor stuff and I want to register it in the near future. Its not a bad car.

Also I want to do things legally so that if he does come back around he can't take any legal action against me.
