Exclamation HELP, need advice

Ok guys I dont usually post on here btu i am in serious need of some help.
I need to get my car inspected down here so i can register it in Virginia, there is only one thing I'm pretty sure that I wont pass inspection. My front blinker covers are cracked and mostly missing. My drivers side window doesnt go up and down on its own.
Ok so i need advice, where is the best place to get new to me covers for the blinkers? a pick and pull, or a dealership or someplace else. Is the window going ot make a huge difference?
IS there anything else i need to worry about?
I would appriciate any and all help and advice anyone has to offer. THANKS!!
~Jennifer
BTW I have a 97 Mercury Cougar and live in the Tidewater area

Just go buy a damn turn signal cover. The window shouldn't matter.

The inspector has to be able to roll the driver's side window up and down in order for it to pass inspection.

its the motor or the teeth on the gears, no one has ever told me which is the reason the window doesnt work

most inspectors are looking to 'upsell' when they inspect- which means you can pretty much count on them checking everything. some even go the extra step and know what to look for on certain types of vehicles (hint- don't take it to a dealership unless you're trying to find out EVERYTHING that may be wrong with your car, inspection-related or not). so more than likely the window will be checked if it's the driver's window.

more than likely the window regulator is what's broken, and they are a pain in the ass on nearly any car. if i remember correctly they aren't too bad on the cougars though (i used to work as a tech in a lincoln-mercury dealership). you're looking at $100-150 for the part plus about 1.5 hours labor, which depending where you go, the rates for labor range from 35-80 dollars.

good luck, cars are expensive. btw a word to the wise, get out of that cougar any way you can, they are horrible cars to maintain. especially if it's a v6.
