OEM and put the money towards a chip or turbo back exhaust

Re: help with intake for vw

im not gonna chip it due to warranty issues, and exhaust i really dont want to do that yet either, i really just want a intake for a little more turbo sound.

I'd get the DV replaced!

any idea if that would void any warranty. what does the dv do, will it add any power or just noise?

An air intake could void your warrenty just as easily as a chip and is a hell of a lot easier for a tech to see. What dealer do you go to? Casey? I know they will raise an eyebrow to an intake.

carbonio
evolution motorsports
those seem to be the most popular right now. the carbonio doesn't require any cutting of the engine cover, but the evo ms one does. neuspeed also has one out.

its a diverter valve, aka blow off valve (bov). our cars have one already, you should be able to hear it. the aftermarket one (i ordered one made by forge) just sends more of the air into the atmosphere instead of back into the engine.

I had some people who did that when I had my 5.0 too, I think that's awesome.

The evo ms intake is on back order until....forever is what it seems like.If you just after sound then get the neuspeed p flo intake. Its pretty cheap compared to the others and its instock everywhere I looked. An intake will definately give you that turbo sound your looking for though.

Not trying to be a prick, but isn't that basically what you are after with increasing the ghey BOV sound? Why else do you want it to be louder? It's to show off, right?

If you are so worried about your warranty, you shouldn't touch your car with aftermarket accessories unless they are labeled VW and installed at a VW dealership. An intake will definitely be looked at as a 'no-no' by most VW dealers here. They will definitely void your warranty if you have any issues with your MAF or O2 sensors (fairly common VW problem). Yeah, I know... how does an intake affect an O2 sensor??? They'll find a way to not cover something under warranty.

Oiled intake filters are notorious for causing problems. I remember when they switched to non oiled on some of the vw intakes because of this.

A DV is a recirculating valve. You more than likely won't hear it with the stock intake plumbing. Which Forge valve did you order that sends more air into the atmosphere (and the stock one doesn't send air into the engine, it puts it back into the IC plumbing).

Yeah, I just had my O2 sensor go in my mom's expedition and the dealer gave me shit about my K&N intake.

thanks for your input but there arent factory performance parts yet for my car. They also dont know when they will be out. It looks like several months. And i spoke with a sales man and the service writer that assisted me this weekend. She informed me that as long as i dont go overboard with modifying that it will be ok. Intake, blow off valve. things like that. And i want a that "ghey" blow off valve because i like the sound that they make. I dont go out and hang out at car spots or ride around looking for ppl to try and race. I drive alot each day and it would jsut make the ride more fun having a little entertainment. But thank you for all your input you obviously are the person i need to talk to since you seem to know so much about everything.:worship:
