Question Has anyone heard of Mr2s coming stock twin turbo?

I have a friend down in missouri who has met up with two mr2s with twin turbo engines, that both claim the engines came that way from the factory, or from the dealer at least. He mentioned that their engine code was 20R? Does anyone know anything about this?

Actually they don't have twin turbo cars they have Twin Entry Turbo cars, there's a big difference. The engine code for the turbo mr2 is 3s-gte. It is a 2.0 liter but I don't know how they got 20R? Plus I don't know why someone would want to twin turbocharge a 4 cylinder.

There is one twin turbo MR2, I think. A one-off job.

Maybe he is talking about twin-charging?

PS- i believe 20R's were late seventies, SOHC motors making sub 100 HP.

youre all kinda right.
-everybody mistakes twin entry turbo for twin turbo. for those that dont know: twin entry/twin scroll is the name for the split inlet exhaust housing. this keeps the exhaust pulses in a tight bundle to help engines with fewer pulses percycle (4bangers).
- a company called mechtech made 3 twin turbo kits for the mr2. they utilized twin vatn turbos and could reach max boost at around 1500rpm if im not mistaken.

not true, those kits are still floating around and the turbos were "normal" sized.
