Default Evo or STi?

So I'm thinking about trading in my SUV for either a 2003-2005 Evo or an STi. I know quite a few of you own these cars and I'm trying to get a feel for cost of maintenance, upgrades, and even insurance. Which is the better deal? Which handles better? Is it a matter of personal preference or is there a noticeable difference between the cars?

I would go sti cuz of the rumbling sound with an exhaust, and it looks alot better than the EVO. Lets not even talk about the interior. Interiorwise the sti is better also. Even though the Evo handles better the sti shifts much smoother and i feel its the better car.

Road and Track had a nice heads up cover article on Evo vs STi a month or two ago. Pretty good read.

You're retarded if you go with a car simply because of how the exhaust sounds. Especially when no matter what you do, all STI's sound the same. However, Evos are known to respond to mods a lot better than STI's. STI's are a bit nicer as far as interior is concerned. Either car is a good choice, but I'm an Evo fan and always will be. Especially comparing the hideous Evo X to the even more hideous STI concept.

yeah, def read that article. The STI has about 5 hp more with about 400 lbs more. The article will tell you that. Its no secret in price, but the look is what make a lot of people decide. Personally I like the more aggressive look of the Evo.

But I say do some research and see what you want. BTW The new evo's and STI's are now gonna be made with aluminum blocks.
