E46 M3 vs. S13 SR20DET w/ Tein Type HEs
Tell me how you think these two cars would compare at VIR on the roadcourse...
1990 S13 Fastback
- blacktop SR20DET
- ebay non-equal length, tubular exhaust manifold
- Tein HEs all the way around
- Stock rear end (no lsd)
- stock street tires
vs
bone stock 2004 E46 M3 6 speed
both with equal drivers. it'd be nice if there were some educated responses. a friend of mine is trying to tell me his SR 240sx has no problems outhandling E46 M3s on that setup and im just finding it hard as shit to believe, but i guess i could be wrong. anyways, respond

Your friend is wrong. No LSD + street tires = bad times no matter what coilovers he has. No to mention that there are a number of other suspension mods he would need to do before even coming close to outhandling the bimmer on a road course.

Nick I'll tell you this much. I saw an E46 and a roots style blown Z06 go at it on a roadcourse and the only time the Z06 could take the M3 was the straights. As soon as turns came up the M3 was on his ass.
Your friend is definitely wrong.

winds 0rcr0 nick: what do you think if he was on some p-zeros and had an lsd
alphablaxican: he'd still need sway bars, control arms, bushings, tensioners, etc
alphablaxican: 240s are just too loose in stock form.
just had to add that in there for when he sees this later...

He could not hang with any M3 E30, E36 or E46. Not becuase I own one just because they are not comparable cars at all.

They are really loose. I think when I drove Tim's he was at 14 psi and I hit 2nd and the car just wanted to go everywhere. It's fun at times, but when you're trying to race spinning is worthless.
