Re: d16y8
You can piece a turbo kit together or buy a kit for the d series motor you have. D-series.org or honda-tech have good write ups to help you on your way. I'm currently in the process of boosting a d15b7 w/ a d16z6 head.
replace headgasket, timing belt, water pump, oil pump & arp headstuds, fuel filter & other basic maintance upgrades first then your ready to boost the motor.
p28 ecu chipped with crome or other tuning software, turbo, exhaust manifold, downpipe, front mount intercooler, injectors, exhaust, boost controller, fuel pump.

Re: d16y8
That's not "a lot" of horsepower. That's a decent amount of power, but depending on the status of your d16y8 unless it's in good condition and the compression is good I wouldn't boost it personally.

Edelbrock kit you should be fine on stock internals as long as you don't run a lot of boost, and tune your car. If your looking for anything over 200whp I'd look into Vitara pistons and some Crower rods.
