Default D15 spun rod bearing trouble

I have a 91 hatch being sold to me, but before i go through with it. I want to know what he means by having a spun rod bearing, and how to fix it. Parts, time, expense.

Thanks

It means that where the connecting rod attaches to the crankshaft, the bearing is shot, no good, kaput. The engine will need to be completely redone to be safe, which could mean machine work and other things, since you didn't know this already you should probably just forget it.

Yes a complete rebuild like he said to be safe... And honestly that wouldnt be worth it on a d15b to put the time and work into it.. If you want to spend that kinda of money then just buy a gsr or b16 ( if you have that kinda money ) and im not bashing but since you didnt know what a spun bearing is means you will have to pay people to build the motor and that will cost way to much, so just look for something else thats a ready to go daily driver

A spun rod bearing can sometimes mean a new crank (depending on scarring and heat damage), and you can count on having to get a new set of rods. The easy fix with a D15 is to get another engine because they're really cheap and plentiful. Or, get a different engine and consider it a good excuse to upgrade from a D15.

But, these are the things you have to deal with on a 21 year old car.
