"Cop Count"
So I recently traveled to central Pennsylvania for business and I got bored and took a count of how many cops that I saw amazingly I only saw 12!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so surprised because this "cop count" was from when we left from my co-worker's house until we got there and I counted the two days we were there and finally I counted when we came back; also we were on major highways which I would have thought would have had 3242340284 cops out. WTF????!!!!! I wonder if is because radar detectors are legal in MD and PA; I thought this becuase cops generate A LOT of revenue from speeding traps and I was wondering if because radar detector are allowed there are less cops generating less revenue which led to less of them on the road????? I also was wondering if radar detectors became legal in VA would that slowly but surely cause less cops to be on the road because they simply don't have the money to support what they are doing and would make it harder for them to be able to buy the equipment they need????? I also thought of an experiment if radar detectors were legalized in just in FFX Co. how hard that would fuck FFX Co.????

Re: "Cop Count"
P.S.- (Off topic for a sec)
Oh yeah forget to mention that when we stopped in PA to grab a bite to eat we were waiting for our food and I was watching the TV at the place and saw the report on the Amish school shootings which was really sad...but like 5 mintues later some kid about 12 years old walked in and had a full on mullet I was laughing my ass off and he made me forget the horrible tragedy of the shooting...thanx for the comic relief mullet boy.

Re: "Cop Count"
yea I use to live in philly and there are PLENTY of cops in the cities(philly, reading, pitts) but in between there are like none at all and even though the radar is legal they all use vascar with the timing strips and only state pigs can use radar guns all the county pigs only have the vascar. Ive talked to alot of people from all over the place and there just seems to me more cops in VA than anywhere else......sucks

Re: "Cop Count"
fairfax county cops rarely keep their radar on right now as it is. The majority of them only turn the radar on when they actually want to use it. imo, legalizing radar detectors in ffx county wouldn't affect it that much
p.s. only reason i know this is because i had an escort 8500 in my car until i recently sold it.

I was thinking of getting a V1 but I was kinda weary of that because that's a $400 detector and if a cop catches me with it he can confiscate if if he wants right???? plus I live 2 miles away from MD so i got there if I need anything and I also do a fair amount traveling out of state for work.

yea they don't have it on all the time, they're very stealthy about that kinda stuff. You can get a v1 it just won't do any good if the other cop's radar detector is off, make sure yours is hardwired though. and no they won't confiscate it, they just write down the serial number and give it back.

Re: "Cop Count"
I'm really not sure how useful a radar detector is in Fairfax, considering so many cops use laser up here...

I have an Escort Passport 8500, but I rarely use it anymore. I only use it when I go on road trips. When I had it, I always respected VA and DC's no radar detector laws by storing the thing before I took a drive into their territory. But honestly on the interstates its not needed.
VA State Cops are typically trained to not give a damn until you're doing 10 over the limit on highways (if you're on Main Street or in a neighborhood they are less tolerant of course, but out on the highways that is the case). Up here in DC, on the Beltway MD police have standard operating procedure not to pull anyone over during rush hour on the Beltway unless its a very harsh violation because it backs up traffic and causes delays.
I only take the Escort with me and use it if I'm going somewhere. Out in the sticks, the cops don't have the best of the best radar gear, so I can pick them up far off. But the flip side is that anymore on the East Coast, traffic is so bad on all the main highways and interstates that you can't really go more then 10 mph over the limit.
The West Coast and the desert in the Southwest is where its at. But then, that doesn't always work. My dad got nailed by a cop out in the desert who sat on a mesa and timed my dad with a STOPWATCH. Try to get a detector for that.
Finally, anyone with a radar detector should know that if they are doing more then 15 over the limit, the detector does damage CONTROL, not damage ELIMINATION.
