only problem is it's one time use... and you can forget about any repair work. Come to think of it, if it's use one time and works, it's done it's job.

ive seen way to many cracked/broken carbon fiber hoods and hatchs to feel safe sitting under that even if i could afford it

most of those are not true carbon fiber throughout anyway.

  • Carbon Fiber tensile strength is 3.5
  • Density is 1.75
  • Specific strength is 2.0

now compare to steel
  • Steel tensile strength is 1.3
  • Density is 7.9
  • Specific strength is 0.17


Carbon fiber, if used with the right resins, correct manufacturing process and the correct creation (all weaves align) it will be a shit ton stronger. Hell just look at an F1 car. Oh, and keep in mind, it's most likely all re-inforced with aluminum tubing or something.
