Car-Related Research Paper help needed
For my english class we're writing a pretty extensive research paper with the topic being up to the student.
I chose: The increasing role of diesel motors in automotive racing and the performance car market.
I know there's some talk of a potentially diesel NSX concept, Audi A8, and honda trying to incorporate more diesels.
As of right now I need a lot of official sources like prestigous magazine articles, journals, car manufacture articles etc.
The main criteria is I'm trying to steer away from offroad/truck diesel and focus completely on performance cars, and track racing. I'm not positive, but I believe Renault has built a few diesel race cars.
If ANYONE has any official information on the topic please post it
Thanks

I know over in the uk honda had a couple of diesels. I don't know if they were aimed at the performance market. I think they had a 1.9 and a 2.2. I'll start looking for them.

Peugeut and Audi LeMons cars, they're really the ones leading the performance charge. Most of the other diesel engines are still geared toward fuel economy, not performance at all. Whoever comes out with a diesel engine for a road car that behaves like a petrol engine (higher revving, fast transient response, etc.) will have a winner on their hands. The particle filters that Dow is making for Peugeot (and Audi?) are going a long way to getting rid of visible black smoke, and proper tuning is doing a lot also. That was one of the Le Mans entry criteria, they had to have NO visible black smoke.
Ever see those "tuned" pickup trucks that spew huge clouds of black smoke coming off of a stoplight? They're tuned like shit. Right now I'm not a diesel fan at all, but I'll come around when they aren't really boring to drive and really noisy. All that will change in the next few years I think.
