That depends... Lets see if the guy you got the car from had a loan on it then the bank has the title and you will not get it until the bank is paid off, and he can get in trouble for selling a car that really isnt his.

If the bank dont have the title and he just lost it or whatever then he has to go and get a new title, if he was even the owner of the vehicle. You sir could have possibly just bought a stolen car. and if thats the case you can get in alot of trouble for that, and WHO buys a car without a title ? All you can hope for now is to get your money back from the dude, of course you could always take him to civil court, but im guessing if your dumb enough to buy a car without a title then you dont have any paperwork to prove you bought it in the first place ( bill of sale ) so the judge wouldnt even see the case without proof. So you sir are screwed unless you can get your money back

well story is i bought it from someone who he bought it from with no title and that guy got it from scrapyard but the car fax comes back clean and only had 73k on it and last regestered in MD
