Default Can you remove primer, and preserve paint underneath?

I was just wondering if you could remove primer from a car, but not damage the paint under it?

Why would there be primer over paint that was worth a shit?

You may be able to lightly sand by hand to remove the primer and depending upon the quality of the paint underneath and buff it out if you use a high enough grit sand paper... Wouldn't know though, never had a reason to try.

Like said above if the previous paint was scuffed right then noo, still most chances are no, especially if your hoping to have nice shiny paint when done

I'm going with no. Maybe with enough time and effort, a very slight maybe. But more than likely, no.

well get some lacquer thinner and try a small spot...it will take off cheap ass rattle can primer quickly without hurting the paint....

it will soften the paint...so if it looks like its working do not stay in the same spot...move around and let it evaporate...

do a spot and check it...if you see sand scratches in the paint then there is really no reason to keep wasting thinner and time...just get it painted
