Pioneer specifies a different XM Tuner for use with the AVIC-Z2, but it looks exactly the same other than one extra port for something on the back of it. The AVIC-Z2 operators guide only refers to the newer module when talking about traffic updates etc.
So... I have a hunch I could use the existing GEX-P920XM I have and get XM radio jus fine? Anyone know? Any audo/video stores that would give me an honest answer vs. trying to sell me upgrades?
Thanks,
Brian

Try it. I did the same thing with Sirius. I switched head units and Kenwood wanted me to buy a new tuner, but the old tuner simply plugged in and worked.

Should just be IP-bus in and out. If so then it should work fine. Should have one blue port and one black ip-buss port

Yeah turns out it should work.... I did some more searching last night and it turns out the updated module is only needed if you want to use the Nav-traffic functionality and to do that you have to pay extra via XM or Sirius for it to work. The current box I have will work just fine for getting XM.
