time is winding down to the day I return back to the states,and im trying to have a gameplan before I even get back,so I need to figure out what type of vehicle I should be looking at.


Disclaimer : Please do not come in this thread telling me to save or invest my money,or trying to flame me. I have already saved and invested the amount of money I felt I needed to,and now its time to get a set of wheels,so I wont have to walk around base.

I sold my foxbody,and I like the V8 rwd platform,but gas prices kind of steer me away from returning to that side of the house.

I was dead set on getting an STI,but im having second thoughts now,as im a drag racer.Even though ive done research,and found that the STI tranny's hold up to a substantial amount of power,I keep getting everyone's opinion that its not the car to be dragging at the strip. So with that said,heres where im at now :


04-05 STI - still want one,just need to figure out my power goals so I dont break the car.

S2000 - negative,too small,compression too high.

Evo - Not a fan of mitsubishi's,sorry.

350z - nice,but not really my style

Sn95 mustang - never really appealed to me too much,besides the 03-04 cobra,and that shits way too pricey for my money frame.

S197 mustang - Cant really say anything bad about it..I wouldnt mind having one honestly.

LSx camaro - never really looked at them honestly. I know what they are capable of,but not really my style.

Srt-4 - I really want a factory boosted car..but not FWD. I cant go back to a FWD car again,Ever.



Thats all the cars I can think of as of right now.Those arent the only cars im subjected to though.If anyone has any other ideas to throw in,feel free.



cliff notes : I really want a factory turbo car,but on the same note,I want to stay either RWD,or mess with AWD,no FWD.I also wouldnt mind owning a S197 mustang(05+ for you non ford guys)

as good as both of those sound in my head,im noticing that as im getting older,I have more money,and less time for car projects to spend some of that money on. In other words,im not looking to buy a 08 car of any sort,but im getting to the point where I dont want to be driving around something thats the same age as me,has 600 hp,and oil/boost leaks everywhere.

sky redline. Easy. small, rwd, SIDI turbo. 300rwhp with a chip/IC upgrade. It's a small turbo from the factory but upgrades will be coming down the line very shortly and the LNF block will be a very strong platform for years to come.


Just throw on a hard top and you're set.

Out of the ones you listed, I'd go with the S197 (That's a fairly biased opinion ). If I had to do it all over again, though, I would have gone with the '03-'04 Cobra, all day, any day.
